Developing wearable nerve stimulation for peripheral and postoperative pain
Moderate to severe peripheral pain, including postoperative pain, can be difficult to treat. Opioids carry side effects and dependence risks, while temporary nerve-stimulation devices can be uncomfortable or difficult to manage, limiting their adoption in clinical care.
OrioStim is developing a wearable for temporary peripheral nerve stimulation to address pain, including after surgery. Its nonfunctional prototype targets more robust electrodes, a comfortable skin interface and reliable external components for easier care.
