Product
JawBuddy combines an exercise library, feedback-based difficulty adjustment and a front-camera view for home practice. Computer vision supports an optional augmented reality tool for personal mouth-opening tracking, while users record pain, stress and tension.
Feedback-adapted exercise plans
Users rate each exercise as too easy, just right or too difficult. The app adjusts difficulty across four levels; from day 11, ratings also guide selection within the exercise library and chosen discomfort region.
Camera-guided progress tracking
Video instructions and a picture-in-picture front-camera view help users check their movements. Optional augmented reality tracking records mouth-opening trends for personal observation, not clinical diagnosis.
Standalone relaxation course
A separate eight-week course teaches progressive muscle relaxation through audio guidance and weekly learning checks. It is intended for healthy adults aged 18–65 with everyday stress and is sold separately from the app subscription.
Market Overview
Digital jaw-care software sits between dental advice and home physical therapy. Patients buy guided exercise and tracking tools to support regular practice, while dentists and physiotherapists can recommend them alongside conservative care. Jaw disorders create a defined clinical use case within this wider home-rehabilitation category.
Germany supports two distinct purchasing routes: consumer subscriptions and insurer-subsidised prevention courses. Public course data show established demand for online delivery and stress management. Separately, the DiGA scheme pays for qualifying prescription treatment apps, providing a regulated digital-care market beyond self-pay subscriptions.
TMD affects about 5% of US adults; estimates vary with the population and assessment method.
German insurers supported nearly 1.9 million individual health-course participations in 2024.
In Germany, 27% of insurer-supported individual health courses were delivered online in 2024.
The average negotiated price for 40 DiGA was €227 per quarter in Germany’s 2025 report.
