Developing blood tests that measure red blood cell flexibility
Sickle-cell disease causes unpredictable, painful crises that can require hospitalisation and damage organs. Clinicians lack reliable markers to monitor patients, assess treatment response and anticipate these crises.
Icovell is developing Dynared, a blood-testing device that measures red blood cell flexibility through video imaging and image analysis. It aims to support sickle-cell monitoring and rapid clinical decisions in critical care, including sepsis.
What stands out about Icovell
Evaluated the red blood cell deformability marker in 21 sickle-cell patients, with weekly measurements analysed in 19 over six months.
