Developing non-opioid medicines to reduce nerve activity driving chronic pain
Chronic pain can arise from nerve damage or inflammation and persist for months, reducing quality of life and productivity. Current treatments often provide insufficient relief or cause serious side effects. Opioids also carry addiction risks and can become less effective over time.
Dolinnov is developing a non-opioid medicine that lowers FXYD2, a protein regulating pain-sensing nerve activity. Its lipid-linked antisense treatment is designed to reduce severe chronic pain, with cancer pain as its first planned clinical application.
What stands out about Dolinnov
Demonstrated pain relief in rat models of neuropathic and inflammatory pain using FXYD2-targeting lipid-ASOs in 2023.
Holds an exclusive worldwide licence from Inserm covering four patents underpinning its chronic-pain treatment approach.
Built on co-founder Jean-Philippe Annereau's experience leading Alexion R&D France as site director and president from 2015 to 2019.
Received Bpifrance financial support alongside a € 500,000 investment secured in December 2024.
Won an i-Lab 2025 Grand Prize for ASODOL, its chronic-pain drug development project, with € 500,000 in non-dilutive Bpifrance funding awarded.
Built on co-founder Jean-Philippe Annereau's earlier company-building experience as co-founder of Medetia Pharmaceuticals in 2019.
Founded with Stéphanie Ventéo, the Montpellier neuroscience researcher whose discovery of FXYD2's role in chronic pain underpins the company.
Raised € 1.6 million in a seed round from business angels and family offices in 2025 to advance its lead candidate into toxicology studies.
Joined Agoranov’s science and technology incubator in 2026 to develop its non-opioid therapy for chronic pain.
Collaborates with CEA on formulation and Inserm on a three-year France 2030 project supporting preclinical development of its lead candidate.
