Developing rapid diagnostic chemistry for infection and resistance testing
Clinicians often choose antibiotics before laboratory tests identify an infection and its resistance profile. Delayed results can lead to ineffective treatment or unnecessary prescribing, while repeat appointments add work for clinics and prolong uncertainty for patients.
Checktor Biosciences is developing rapid diagnostic chemistry to help clinicians choose treatments during the first visit. Its approach is designed to upgrade existing testing devices so providers can identify infections and resistance markers close to patients.
What stands out about Checktor Biosciences
In project testing, the assay matched PCR for gonorrhea and chlamydia in clinical samples, with results in five minutes or less.
Gebert Rüf Stiftung awarded the ETH-hosted Checktor project CHF 150,000 through InnoBooster in 2024 for diagnostic development.
