Providing a home hearing-training app with audiologist follow-up
Hearing aids and cochlear implants can leave people struggling to understand speech, especially in noise. Structured listening practice and communication support may help address these difficulties, but hearing-care professionals have limited time for repeated in-person training and follow-up.
Celes offers ALICE, a smartphone hearing-training programme with listening exercises, monitoring and communication guidance. Patients access it through hearing centres and practise at home, while audiologists review progress through a dashboard.
What stands out about Celes
An eight-week randomized ALICE study with 65 completers per group found improved untrained speech-in-noise test performance.
Céline Jacobs founded Audioknowledgy in 2022 to provide professional education and training for audiologists.
Co-founder Céline Jacobs established and managed a hearing-care practice in Herselt from 2020, before Celes.
