Developing smell sensors for non-invasive disease screening
Cancers discovered only after symptoms appear leave a narrower window for early intervention. Chemical signals could offer another route to detection, but capturing smell is difficult: mixtures of molecules require selective sensors, consistent sampling and labelled data.
Anemo Labs is developing an electronic nose that combines sensors and AI to analyse smell patterns in bodily fluids such as urine. It aims to enable non-invasive disease screening and monitoring, with prostate cancer as its first clinical focus.
