Developing mRNA immunotherapies to lower cholesterol
LDL cholesterol can leave fatty deposits in arteries, restricting blood flow and raising the risk of heart attacks and strokes. Statins lower cholesterol and reduce this risk, but require daily dosing; some people experience side effects, which are usually mild.
Ameliogenix is developing AGXV, a series of mRNA immunotherapies intended to lower cholesterol. Its lead candidate, AGXV1, is in lab testing and is designed for familial hypercholesterolemia and non-genetic high cholesterol.
What stands out about Ameliogenix
Partnered with Collège La Cité's InnovaCité BioLab for preclinical testing of its AGXV cholesterol-lowering pipeline.
Accepted into Life Sciences Central, the accelerator network collaboration between OBIO, TIAP and MaRS Discovery District.
Won first place at the OmniTech pitch event at Carleton University, hosted by Momentum AIR.
Co-founder Ziggy Slade is a molecular biology PhD candidate with expertise in mRNA translation and protein synthesis.
Momentum AIR supported Ameliogenix with business guidance and introductions to its preclinical research partner, according to founder Hunter Grad.
