Developing in-bed weight monitoring for immobile hospital patients
Body weight helps clinicians assess fluid balance, nutrition and treatment needs, but weighing patients who cannot move independently is difficult. Transfers can disturb vulnerable patients and require several staff members, making regular measurements time-consuming and physically demanding.
AirScale is developing an under-mattress weighing system that measures immobile patients in bed. Its sensor-based approach is designed to support regular weight monitoring while reducing lifting and freeing nursing time for care.
What stands out about AirScale
AirScale established patient-testing collaborations with University Hospital Zurich and the Cantonal Hospital of Zug.
AirScale built an in-bed weighing prototype and tested it at University Hospital Zurich before broader patient testing.
