Developing RNA medicines to treat liver fibrosis
In cirrhosis, scar tissue replaces healthy liver tissue, impairs its function and can lead to liver failure. Symptoms may not appear until the liver is badly damaged. Treating the underlying causes can help prevent further damage, but there is no specific treatment that cures cirrhosis.
Afortiori Bio is developing targeted RNA medicines for liver fibrosis in chronic liver disease. Its programme is at the preclinical stage, with the aim of halting and reversing disease progression to improve patient outcomes.
