Developing touch feedback for prostheses and insoles for diabetic-foot monitoring
Prostheses without touch feedback can make everyday movements harder and affect users' independence. Diabetes can also reduce sensation in the feet and increase the risk of complications. Monitoring changes over time requires more than isolated clinical measurements.
Advanced Care Technologies is developing Digi'Skin, which links prosthesis sensors to a vibrating armband to provide touch feedback. Its Digi'Feet connected insole and app are designed to help people with diabetes and care teams monitor foot health, without making a diagnosis.
