Developing dental splints and aligners that release antibacterial agents
Clear aligners can restrict saliva flow and oxygen around teeth, creating conditions for bacterial buildup. This can contribute to plaque, cavities and bad breath during orthodontic treatment. Toothpaste and mouthwash provide only temporary protection.
Actival develops dental splints and aligners with 3D-printed microchannels that release antibacterial agents and fluoride. Designed for use through dentists and clinics, these devices aim to support oral hygiene during wear.
