DealBio tracks early-stage health startups across Europe and North America. These 5 Spanish startups are building products for clinical decision-making, emergency care, mental-health follow-up, drug development and microbiome diagnostics.
Spain’s early-stage health pipeline is showing a strong translation theme. Several of the newest startups start with a problem already visible inside care delivery or biomedical research, then build software, diagnostics or devices around the way professionals actually work.
What stands out is how closely these startups are tied to institutions that can validate and adopt health technology early. Hospitals, public-health services, universities and specialist professionals are not only sources of clinical problems; they can also provide the first evidence, reference users and distribution channels that help a young product move beyond technical proof.

Why CT Provision stands out
CT Provision is developing HOP around a decision that matters immediately after aneurysmal subarachnoid haemorrhage: which patients are most likely to deteriorate after the initial bleed. A retrospective analysis of 127 patients reported an AUC of 0.731 for vasospasm or delayed cerebral ischaemia and 0.857 for death.
The underlying method is covered by granted US and European patents held by the Andalusian public health service, while HOP is already available for research use through QMENTA. Founder Marcin Balcerzyk brings more than two decades of medical-imaging research and is named on the core prognosis patent.
What CT Provision is building
HOP combines the admission CT scan with clinical variables to estimate patient-level risks after subarachnoid haemorrhage. It returns focused estimates for vasospasm or delayed cerebral ischaemia, functional outcome and death without requiring an additional imaging procedure.
HOP is already available through QMENTA for research use, giving CT Provision an active setting to generate further evidence around the model and its role in neurocritical-care risk stratification.

Why DimpHealth stands out
DimpHealth has moved its first device beyond prototype work into public emergency-care use. T-Clamp has been adopted by medicalized ambulances in Jaén, while a publicly funded prospective pilot in Granada has expanded beyond its initial emergency units.
The product originated in frontline nursing practice and the Andalusian Health Service licensed the underlying utility model to the startup through ibs.GRANADA. The founding team combines emergency-care experience, clinical research and finance, giving the company direct familiarity with both the workflow and the buyer.
What DimpHealth is building
DimpHealth is building a small portfolio of portable devices for emergency and out-of-hospital care. T-Clamp secures blood-sample tubes during transport, Dimpus IV Bag combines an emergency backpack with integrated IV support, and MagIV Pole provides a compact magnetic mounting point for IV fluids.
The products target practical handling problems that can delay testing or make treatment harder in ambulances and other mobile settings. The model is built around fitting existing clinical routines rather than introducing a new digital workflow.

Why Nexi Health stands out
Nexi Health has already put a functional product into the market and released a second platform version in January 2026. An evaluation with 25 specialists used simulated patient cases to test preliminary assessments, while the company has also received SPRI support and joined Lanzadera.
Co-founder Eneka Iribarren brings health-system and digital-health experience, while CTO Pol Vallverdu has a software-engineering background. That mix is relevant because the product has to work as part of a professional mental-health workflow, with clinicians retaining control over assessment and treatment decisions.
What Nexi Health is building
Nexi Health combines Bruna, a conversational assistant for patients, with Meripsy, a workspace for mental-health professionals. Patient conversations are structured into information that clinicians can review before visits and during follow-up.
The platform is designed to extend assessment between appointments, surface changes over time and reduce the amount of unstructured information a professional has to process. The clinician reviews and adjusts the system’s outputs rather than handing over the care decision.

Why OrganAID stands out
OrganAID combines university-derived biology with an experienced operating team. The University of Barcelona and Pompeu Fabra University established the startup around licensed technology for patient-derived tissue models and predictive image analysis, and OrganAID later won a place in Insud Pharma’s ChemoStart program.
The scientific founders bring deep experience in brain organoids, genetics and bioinformatics. CEO Víctor Bañares adds repeat-founder execution from outside biotech, including co-founding Vueling and Iryo, which strengthens the commercial side of a research-heavy platform.
What OrganAID is building
OrganAID grows patient-derived organoids, small three-dimensional cell cultures that reproduce selected features of a person’s tissue, and exposes them to candidate treatments. AI analyzes static and live images to assess model quality, toxicity and treatment response.
The company is positioning the platform for pharmaceutical and biotechnology research, with services spanning cerebral, colonic and retinal models. The commercial thesis is to make patient-specific biological response measurable earlier in drug development.

Why AIMA Biohealth stands out
AIMA Biohealth launched with a professional-first model built around clinician use. Its platform is already live and is used by more than 100 healthcare professionals for microbiota analysis and interpretation.
The company combines sample logistics, sequencing, bioinformatics and clinician-facing software in one workflow. Co-founders Alfredo García Martínez and Juan Carlos Marco Gil bring biotechnology and quantitative-development backgrounds, supporting a product that sits between laboratory analysis and clinical interpretation.
What AIMA Biohealth is building
AIMA offers microbiota tests prescribed by a healthcare professional, including NGS-based 16S and shotgun metagenomic analysis. Results are delivered through AIMA Clinic, where professionals can review biomarkers, compare findings with reference data and prepare reports for patients.
AIMA Care adds AI-assisted interpretation, but the professional remains responsible for reviewing, editing and contextualizing the final result. That keeps the product focused on clinical support rather than direct-to-consumer self-diagnosis.

Investment perspective
What stands out in this Spanish group is how directly the products are rooted in real healthcare and biomedical workflows. CT Provision emerged from a public-health and hospital research environment, DimpHealth from frontline emergency care, OrganAID from university research, and AIMA Biohealth is already used by healthcare professionals. The clinical or research setting is part of how the product is being designed, tested or delivered.
For investors, that makes Spain interesting here as a source of clinically grounded company formation rather than as a single-sector theme. The group spans clinical AI, emergency devices, mental-health software, organoid testing and microbiome diagnostics, but each begins close to a defined user and workflow. That proximity can make early product development more focused because the problem, user and setting are visible from the start.
