Competitive awards can give early-stage health startups visibility with specialist juries, investors, industry leaders and potential partners before conventional scale is available.

The signal becomes more useful when recognition sits alongside product execution, clinical evidence, customers, financing or experienced founders. The five startups below show different ways external recognition can reinforce a broader investment case.

Why Belle Health stands out

Belle Health won both the jury and audience prizes at the 2025 Female StartAperitivo Central Germany competition. The recognition is more useful because it sits alongside commercial traction and clinical evidence.

Belle reported reaching nearly 30,000 paying subscribers within a year of launching its international app. Its eight-week cognitive behavioral therapy program has also been evaluated through two randomized controlled studies involving three universities.

Belle additionally reports CE-marked Class I medical-device status and is pursuing a potential pathway toward reimbursement by German statutory health insurers.

What Belle Health is building

Belle focuses on severe premenstrual disorders, including .

Its app combines daily cycle and symptom tracking with an eight-week program. The company is extending the platform with the Belle Ring, a wearable that measures temperature, heart rate, heart-rate variability, sleep and movement and interprets those measurements in the context of the user's menstrual cycle.

The product combines digital therapeutics, consumer subscription health and wearables within a focused women’s-health indication.

Why Clee Medical stands out

Clee Medical won a 2025 W.A. de Vigier Award and progressed through Venture Kick. More importantly, Neuro Access was used in 11 neurosurgical procedures during the startup’s first year, giving the recognition a concrete execution signal behind it.

Clee Medical has also raised a seed round led by High-Tech Gründerfonds alongside Zürcher Kantonalbank, Kickfund, FONGIT, Venture Kick and Wyss Geneva.

Its technical team brings particularly relevant experience. CTO Abed Hammoud helped build two previous surgical-navigation companies that were later acquired and contributed to technologies including Medtronic's StealthStation and FrameLink systems.

What Clee Medical is building

Clee Medical's Neuro Access system is designed to give neurosurgeons a live view of brain tissue while advancing instruments toward deep targets.

The single-use probe combines with software that classifies tissue and detects blood flow.

Instead of relying only on scans captured before surgery, the system aims to show tissue directly ahead of the surgical instrument in real time. Its probe measures just 1.27 millimeters across and is designed to work with existing stereotactic surgical equipment.

Why Dx4Life stands out

Dx4Life founder Yvonne Lundberg Giwercman won Lund University’s top 2025 Future Innovations prize for Dx4IVF. The award is backed by financing and human evidence: the startup raised SEK 6.4 million in its first financing round, led by Gobia Enterprises with participation from LU Ventures and Taxam.

The company has also applied for international patent protection around Dx4IVF.

The technology is also supported by human data. A peer-reviewed study involving 1,466 women found a 40% cumulative live-birth rate among women whose IVF hormone treatment matched their genotype, compared with 29% among non-genotyped controls.

What Dx4Life is building

Dx4IVF is a point-of-care genetic test designed to help fertility clinics choose between hormone treatments used during .

A clinician takes a cheek swab, and the test identifies an genetic variant associated with different responses to treatment.

The test produces a visible result in under an hour, potentially allowing the clinician to personalize the hormone prescription during the same appointment rather than sending the sample to a conventional genetics laboratory.

The company is therefore bringing precision medicine into an existing fertility-clinic workflow rather than creating an entirely new care pathway.

Why I See U Baby Care stands out

I See U Baby Care won the Rough Diamond League of the 2025 Philips Innovation Award. The recognition is reinforced by a Dutch hospital collaboration secured in October 2025 to continue developing its neonatal sleep-monitoring technology in a clinical environment.

The founding team also brings a direct research connection to the technology.

Founder Chanel Sam co-authored research on the BeSSPI method for classifying sleep in premature infants, which underpins the technology I See U Baby Care is now commercializing. The research involved 69 infants and more than 10,000 minutes of observation.

What I See U Baby Care is building

Premature babies in require frequent monitoring and clinical interaction, but distinguishing sleep from wakefulness can be difficult through observation alone.

I See U Baby Care is developing a camera-based system that uses machine learning to continuously classify neonatal sleep state without attaching additional sensors to the baby.

Care teams receive a real-time view designed to help them better time routine interventions around the baby's sleep.

I See U Baby Care is also developing the platform around a architecture, allowing sensitive neonatal video to remain within individual hospitals while models can improve across clinical sites.

Why Numi stands out

Numi won the €100,000 Grand Prize at the 2025 Hello Tomorrow Global Challenge and later became an EIC Accelerator laureate. The recognition is reinforced by substantial financing: the startup had already raised €3 million in November 2023, led by Heartcore Capital with participation from HCVC, Financière Saint-James, Kima Ventures and Kost Capital.

Numi has built a team of around 20 people spanning cell science, bioprocess engineering and intellectual property, while also receiving support from Bpifrance and France 2030.

What Numi is building

Numi is developing cell-culture technology for producing components of human breast milk in bioreactors.

Its first commercial application is infant formula.

Rather than manufacturing a finished formula itself, Numi plans to produce concentrated human-milk ingredients that established formula manufacturers could incorporate into their own products.

Numi cultures human mammary cells under conditions designed to reproduce aspects of lactation, separates the resulting milk components and converts them into powdered ingredients suitable for industrial use.

That gives Numi a B2B model targeting an existing global infant-nutrition industry rather than building a consumer formula brand from scratch.

Deal Sourcing for Investors

Looking for More Startups Like These?

DealBio helps investment teams discover, research, and monitor early-stage healthcare and life sciences startups aligned with their investment criteria.

Investment perspective

An award can help a young startup get noticed before conventional scale is available, but it says little on its own about whether the product is working or the market is responding.

What strengthens the signal here is what came next: customers, human studies, surgical use, hospital collaboration and financing.

For investors, the useful question is not who won the competition, but whether the recognition was followed by evidence that makes the next milestone easier to underwrite.

Methodology

DealBio selected these startups from its database of early-stage health and longevity startups, focusing on businesses with verified competitive recognition and additional product, clinical or commercial progress.

The selection represents Germany, Switzerland, Sweden, the Netherlands and France and spans consumer health, medtech, diagnostics, digital health and biotech.

DealBio builds its Startup Briefs using publicly available company materials, ecosystem sources, market references and professional profiles.
